Protecting My Peace (Yes, Even From the MCU)

Y’all ever get tired of watching something and then immediately getting mad about it? Like, genuinely irritated. Annoyed. Rage-tweeting and hate-scrolling. And yet… you keep watching. For what? At this point, just stop. Protect your peace!

I had a little heart-to-heart with myself recently (and by heart-to-heart, I mean mentally spiraling in the shower like a philosopher in a Marvel tee), and I realized something: I’ve had enough therapy to know when something is toxic. And baby… some of this content we keep forcing ourselves to watch? It’s giving emotional damage. It’s giving unnecessary stress. It's giving "why are you still here?"
I’m talking about sitting there, getting mad over a movie or show you knew deep down was going to disappoint you—but you watched it anyway, just to complain. Like... are you good? Because I wasn’t.
So here’s the vibe shift: I’m done. No more hate-watching. No more doom-scrolling MCU discourse. If something stops sparking joy and starts sparking cortisol? It’s cut. Snip snip.
There are so many other things to watch and read. Cartoons that still slap. Comics with depth and heart. Entire fandoms that aren’t actively driving you up a wall. Meanwhile, the current state of the MCU? It’s honestly starting to feel like a toxic husband. You know the one—gaslights you, disappoints you, makes empty promises… and somehow you keep hoping he’ll change?
Girl, file the divorce papers. Emotionally, spiritually, and fandom-wise—I’m done wasting my time.
There’s peace in choosing joy. There’s freedom in choosing literally anything else. And if you needed a sign to do the same? This is it.
💅 Signed,
A retired MCU wife—happily single and thriving
